Duane Mayer, FSA, MSPA, EA
Principal |
|
As an owner of APS, Duane Mayer has
been putting his extensive knowledge and experience to work for Alaskan
businesses and their employees since 1986. Duane also has the unique
distinction of being the only pension actuary practicing in Alaska. He
takes the time to share his technical expertise, empowering clients to
make informed decisions about the future. Duane is a Fellow of the
Society of Actuaries, an Enrolled Actuary under ERISA, and has served
as Chairman of the Enrolled Actuaries Examination Committee.
In the summer of 1986, Duane answered Karen’s call for a business
partner, packed up his family and set out for new challenges in
Anchorage. His experience in the pension business began in 1974,
working with Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Company and includes six
years as chief actuary with Facciani & Company in Cleveland, Ohio.
Duane is a frequent speaker at various national actuarial conferences
and a leader in his field, continually advocating for his clients. In 2005 Duane and his family
relocated to Boise, Idaho in a move that has been largely transparent to our clients and advisors.
Duane now telecomuutes from Boise, is fully connected to our computer and telephone systems,
and commutes to Anchorage on a regular basis.
Duane's favorite hobby is collecting baseball cards and he also enjoys camping, hiking,
playing cribbage and spending time with his family.
