Our staff of ten pension professionals and three support personnel includes people with backgrounds in accounting, actuarial services, pension consulting, and trust administration. Six members of our professional staff have earned professional credentials from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries(ASPPA); five of whom have more than 15 years of experience in the pension industry.

We provide qualified plan design, implementation, administration and termination services for a wide variety of clients and types of plans. Having been in operation since 1978 and with over 300 clients in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest , we are the oldest and most experienced independent retirement plan consulting firm in Alaska. We are not involved in any way in trust asset management or product sales, and we do not serve as plan fiduciaries. Alaska Pension Services, Ltd. was recognized as one of Anchorage's most family friendly workplaces, by winning the Work/Family Award for the Small Business Category, which is sponsored by Success By 6.

Since 1978, APS has helped businesses and not-for-profit organizations across Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, offering creative personalized consultation, creative design, and professional administration of retirement plans.

In June 2008, APS was purchased by National Investment Managers, Inc. (NIM). NIM is a national firm that owns many regional pension consulting/administration firms around the United States. Many of these firms were founded and owned by individuals Duane and Karen have known through their professional organizations. Several were past presidents and leaders of ASPPA and were colleagues over the past twenty years. NIM’s group of companies greatly expands our expertise with a strategic network of experienced pension consultants, administrators, ERISA attorneys and actuaries. Duane and Karen have an ownership in NIM, and still have a stake in making sure that APS provides superior service to all of its’ clients.
